Update September 17, 2007:
On Wednesday September
12 the Kenosha county planning and commission board denied our request
to rezone a parcel of land at Great Lakes Dragaway that we would like
to use for a Motocross track. The board stated that since the town of
Paris has denied our petition due to the areas residence against the
race track, they felt the need to follow the towns request and deny
our petition. Moto Promo’s will be meeting with the owner of Great
Lakes Dragaway this week to discuss our options including the
possibility of an appeal with the circuit court, meeting with the town
of Paris, hiring a good rezoning lawyer and any other options we may
have. Please check
www.wistadiummx.com for more info as it becomes available.
Thank you all for your
continued support!

Update
September 10, 2007:
The next meeting in our
attempt to bring Motocross to Great Lakes Dragaway is set for
Wednesday September 12 at 7pm at the Kenosha county building located
on the Northeast corner of Hwy 45 and 50.
We ask all of you who
enjoy motocross and would like to see it come to Great Lakes Dragaway
to attend and speak at this meeting. Everyone will have a chance to
speak, NOT just Kenosha county residents. The board will allow approx
20 seconds for each person. There will be news journalists there again
as well. We are asking EVERYONE to attend and pack the place again. We
are requesting that everyone (if willing) speak. Keep it Short, Simple
& Sweet. For example “My name is Jane Doe I live in Waukesha county
and I will be coming to Kenosha county to attend the MX events or “My
name is Jane Doe and I live in Kenosha county and my kids (or I) have
raced for xx years and since Lake Geneva closed we now have to travel
several hours to race and would love to race close to home” We need to
show the board that adding the MX track to the Dragaway will have a
positive economic impact on Kenosha County.
I would like to clarify
that the last meeting held at this location was for the town of Paris
(when we flooded the place), now it is the same location but the
Kenosha county board.
THANK YOU all for your
continued support and we look forward to seeing you all Wednesday
evening!

Update
August 29, 2007:
Unfortunately the Town of Paris denied our petition to rezone the
50 acres. I personally contacted approximately 100 residence (that
attend the Dragstrip's events) and the handful of business owners in
town requesting they come to the meeting and vote yes, about 75% of
them said they would be there, but only 2 showed up. The combination
of the majority of Paris residence against the expansion along with
the already nuisance the Dragstrip is, the board voted against us. The
residence simply cannot overcome any of the Dragstrip's existing
noise, lights, traffic..etc..
Our next step is to petition Kenosha county planning and commission
board and then onto the Kenosha county board. These meetings will be
held next month. I will update everyone as I have more information.
As always we THANK YOU for your continued support!
